A few years ago when it was
not my turn to host the family Christmas Day Lunch, I started to feel like I was missing something, so decided to invite some nearby relatives to a Christmas Breakfast. I forgot to take pictures, so most of these are all from one photo snapped by my sister using her phone. Please forgive the "fuzziness".
The table is set for eight hungry guests. Matching green holly and bells damask cloths overlap to cover the extended table.
The
Lenox Red Embassy dinner plate sits on a gold charger. The cutlery (flatware) is
Oscar, by
Villeroy and Boch. The cups and saucers are
Palatial Gold by
Mikasa. Chocolate bells are
Lindt. Bonbons (crackers) are
Tom Smith.
Each cotton napkin is embroidered with Christmas bells and has a scalloped red border - they were purchased from Tong's Linen, Stanley Market, Hong Kong in 1984 and have been washed and ironed countless times. There are matching place mats (not used in this setting). Each piece cost $1AUD. The gold spiral metal napkin rings were purchased from Lane Crawford (HK) about 8 years ago.
The juice glasses are
Bohemia Crystal - Laurel. I have twelve of this wine glass style but would love to have the matching champagne glasses. Lots of searching has yielded no success - yet.
Accessories included clear glass bird vases holding a red rose bud. Each guest had a crystal votive holding sea salt flakes and a sterling silver salt spoon.
The centre piece was made up of a mercury glass tree and two glass ball trees sitting on a tartan runner. The trees were removed to make space for the food.
